
Recently Prof. Alan Christoffels presented the PHA4GE project as part of the H3ABioNet webinar series.
Professor Christoffels is the director of South African National Bioinformatics Institute based at the University of the Western Cape, and the director of the SA Medical Research Council Bioinformatics Unit. He holds the DST/NRF Research Chair in Bioinformatics and Health Genomics and is a member of the South African Academy of Science. His research focuses on pathogen genomics and specifically building computational tools for analyzing high throughput genomics data such COMBAT-TB. Among his software tools is the Baobab Laboratory Information Management System (BAOBABLIMS) used by biobanks in Africa. His research feeds into policy advocacy initiatives including Global emerging pathogen treatment consortium, and a data governance expert panel member for the African Academy of Sciences.
