The Applied Bioinformatics and Public Health Microbiology (ABPHM) conference draws nearer. The Conference will run from the 3rd – 5th of May 2023. The Wellcome Genome Campus is hosting the event in the United Kingdom as a hybrid conference. With life normalising after COVID-19, the conference reflects the importance of pandemic preparedness and responsiveness and collectively creating a better future in public health.
The conference attracts a wide range of participants across the globe – those who specialise in genomics, bioinformatics, data science, sequencing and public health. Representatives from our consortium, PHA4GE, will also take part in the event. Among other activities, participants will be engaged in keynote speeches, topic-based discussions and poster presentations. These activities will showcase best practices and the tools used in frontline diagnostics and genomic surveillance of different disease-causing bacteria and viruses. An organising committee made up of experts from these domains is setup to provide oversight for the conference.
The 9th Microbes and Food Safety Bioinformatics hackathon is a precursor to the conference. Food, is an important aspect to human survival. Yet globally, every step of the food chain is increasingly becoming prone to inducing health hazards. For bioinformaticians, it is crucial to work with multiple professionals in the biomedical space to mitigate these challenges in microbial bioinformatics. Some of the professionals bioinformaticians will work with are medical or molecular biologists, epidemiologists and clinicians. The hackathon is scheduled for the 1st – 3rd of May 2023.
These gatherings will bring together a collection of minds with a common goal of mitigating global health threats.
