As a PHA4GE Member, you can:

Access to collaboration platforms (e.g. Slack, GitHub, shared drives) is provided based on active participation in Working Group activities.
Some roles within PHA4GE carry additional responsibilities:
Consulting contributors may be invited by Working Group Chairs to provide short-term or specialist expertise.
Leadership and governance roles (Steering Committee, Advisory Board, Secretariat) are filled through internal nomination or selection processes.
These roles sit alongside, but are separate from, general membership.
PHA4GE recognises members based on demonstrated engagement and contribution, rather than membership tier.
Members are encouraged to:
Attend Working Group meetings regularly
Contribute to discussions, documents, reviews, tools, or other outputs
Working Groups typically expect members to attend meetings where possible, recognising that availability may vary across regions and roles.
Members who meet agreed participation or contribution criteria—such as consistent meeting attendance or substantive contributions to outputs—may:
Be listed on the PHA4GE website as active contributors
Be eligible for authorship on Working Group and consortium publications
Participate in elections and leadership activities
Recognition is reviewed periodically to ensure it reflects current engagement.
PHA4GE membership is open to researchers, public health professionals, bioinformaticians, laboratory scientists, and partners working in or supporting public health genomics. We welcome members from all regions and career stages.
Yes. PHA4GE membership is free and based on voluntary contribution.
No fixed time commitment is required. Members are encouraged to participate at a level that fits their availability. Recognition and leadership opportunities are based on demonstrated engagement over time.
That’s okay. We recognise that availability varies across roles, regions, and time zones. Participation is assessed flexibly and holistically, not based on strict attendance enforcement.
Leadership and governance roles (e.g. Working Group Chairs, Steering Committee members) are filled through nomination or selection processes defined by PHA4GE governance. Active participation is typically required.
Members are listed based on recent participation or substantive contributions, such as regular meeting attendance or contributions to outputs. Listings are reviewed periodically to ensure they reflect current engagement.
Authorship follows contribution. Members who contribute substantively to a Working Group output or publication are eligible for authorship in line with community norms and Working Group agreements.
Access to collaboration platforms (e.g. Slack, GitHub, shared drives) is provided based on participation in Working Group activities. This helps ensure secure and effective collaboration.
Yes. Members are welcome to participate in multiple Working Groups, depending on interest and availability. Please submit an additional application for each Working Group.
