We are excited to announce the 8th episode of the Genomic Horizons webinar series – Metagenomics in the future of genomic surveillance.

This episode will be presented by Dr Victoria Carr from the Wellcome Sanger Institute and will explore the exciting potential of metagenomics in the context of genomic surveillance.

Dr Carr is a technical expert in genomic data, including data analysis, software development and building bioinformatic pipelines. She is a proponent of robust research practices and building valuable services to generate impactful insights and training in public health and epidemiology. Her research interests are in the respiratory microbiome, pathogen carriage and antimicrobial resistance using shotgun metagenomics.

The webinar will take place on 5 April 2023 at 14:00 UTC and will last for approximately one hour. To register, simply click on the following link:

Wastewater Contextual Data Specification

The PHA4GE Wastewater Contextual Data Specification Package is scoped for data collection and sharing (within organizations, within networks and if desired, with public repositories) of both pathogen-agnostic genomics contextual data and genotypic attributes (such as antimicrobial resistance genes) derived from amplicon-based, WGS, and metagenomic sequencing approaches.

Wastewater Surveillance Guidance and Resources

This repository hosts guidance documents and resources developed by the PHA4GE Wastewater Surveillance Working Group. These documents address core challenges involved in designing effective wastewater surveillance strategies, analyzing wastewater pathogen sequencing and quantification data, and sharing this data with the global public health community.
