We’re excited to announce Episode 14 of the PHA4GE Genomic Horizons Webinar Series, hosted by the PipeViz Phylogenetics Sub-Working Group! This episode will feature a talk by Conor Meehan, PhD, FHEA, FRSB, Associate Professor of Microbial Bioinformatics at Nottingham Trent University.

PHA4GE recently launched a Phylogenetics Sub-Working Group to develop a Phylogenetics for Public Health Guidance Document. As part of this initiative, Prof. Meehan will present a session titled:

Selecting the Method and Data for Building Transmission Networks: A Mycobacterium tuberculosis Case Study

In this talk, Prof. Meehan will explore multiple phylogenetic approaches—including parsimony, distance-based methods, and maximum likelihood—with a focus on Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb). This session offers a valuable opportunity to deepen your understanding of how method and data choices impact public health phylogenetics.

The webinar will take place on 8 May 2025 at 16:00 CAT and will last for one hour.
